The brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB; Halyomorpha halys Stal.) has become a significant pest in Slovenia, especially apple, pear, peach, and cherry orchards. In our study, apple fruit of the cultivar ‘Red Pinova’ were evaluated for visual injury sugar, organic acid, phenolic contents. chemical composition area around puncture wound, uninjured part infested was compared to, as control, only apples. There response resulting an 11.9 g/kg FW higher total sugar content, 1.4 lower acid content with control A strong wound area, high flavanol hydroxycinnamic contents, increases 118% 237%, respectively, apples, detected. induces injured apple. results this study illustrated how responds to BMSB injury, not sensorily (visual odor), but also chemically form metabolic responses.
